Mr. Tripp was trying to recreate the Brabanter Bullenbeisser of the 1700’s that was found in the central Belgium province known as Brabant.

This breed is used mostly for companionship and is often compared to the very popular Boxer breed of dog. The breed is equipped to pull large amounts of weight and have a keen hunting sense.

They have proved to be great with children of all ages. They make excellent family pets. They do have a very loud and deep bark. Their bark coupled with their appearance make them wonderful guard dogs. That said, there is little to no aggression associated with these breed and they would be far more likely to lick a trespasser than to bite them.

Health Problems

There is no known health problems associated with this breed. Because they are such a new breed very little studies have been conducted on their overall health but it is believed by their breeders that they are among some of the healthiest breeds of dog around.

Exercise

Banter Bulldogge’s are a quite active breed but they can still be appropriate as an indoor pet. A small to medium sized yard is preferable but they are active indoors as well. They need daily exercise such as long walks or jogs. They are a playful breed that enjoys playing fetch and other skill related games.

Special Grooming Needs

A Banter Bulldogge’s short smooth coat is very easy to care for. They do require occasional brushing to remove dead hairs. They are average shredders and may need to be brushed more frequently during shedding periods. They can be bathed only when necessary. Their ears need to be cleaned regularly.
