The teeth of the Australian Cattle Dog should form a scissors bite. The coat of this breed is thick and is designed to protect it from extreme weather. The coat has two parts, and this is the thick undercoat and the lighter outer coat. The ideal coat should have red or blue speckles, and tan may be seen on the body as well. Black is not a desirable coat color for this breed.
The Australian Cattle Dog was bred in the 19th century by European settlers in Australia who needed to herd cattle on their ranches. They are not very good with children they are not familiar with.
Health Problems
The Australian Cattle Dog may become deaf, and may also develop PRA or hip dysplasia.
