Australian Silky Terrier - The Australian Silky Terrier is a breed that falls under the Toy group in Australia, but is considered to be a member of the Terrier family in European countries. These dogs should weigh no more than 10 pounds, and the coat should be a maximum length of about six inches. The texture of the coat could be likened to silk. The Australian Silky Terrier should have dark eyes which display a friendly expression. The acceptable coat colors for this breed are brown or fawn. The fur on their faces gives them a distinctive appearance. Experts believe that these dogs were first bred near the end of the 19th century. However, this breed was not officially recognized until 1959.
